Past a3 Projects
Albright Performers
The dance students at Albright Performers finished 2011 with a full day of singing and drama classes run by a3.
Aitken College
We delivered a two day singing masterclass for selected year 6 – 9 students at Aitken College in December 2011.
Ravenswood School for Girls
Ravenswood School for Girls ran their first ever school Holiday Programme in 2011 and we were delighted to provide a drama specialist to work with the junior students.
Hartwell Primary School
a3 was delighted to provide a choreographer and drama coach to work with students and teachers at Hartwell Primary School throughout Term 1 and 2 for their full school production of Aladdin Junior. All 570 students performed in Aladdin Junior over two nights at the George Wood Performing Arts Centre at the Yarra Valley Grammar School.
Deepdene Primary School
A3 choreographed items for all 466 students at Deepdene Primary School in Term 3 in preparations for their school centenary concert.
Auburn Primary School
a3 ran singing workshops with 135 Prep – Grade 2 students at Auburn Primary School in Term 3 to prepare them for their full school concert. We visited the school three times over six weeks and during this time the students learnt a number of individual and combined items. The music teacher at Auburn Primary also received professional development through working with our staff in the sessions and used these skills to rehearse the students.
Birralee Primary School
a3 ran five weeks of dance workshops for all of the students at Birralee Primary School. The sessions focussed on Hip Hop but also included some jazz and lyrical dance.
St Patrick’s School
St Patrick’s School in Wangaratta wanted to start 2011 with a bang so they invited a3 to come and run two full days of performing arts workshops for all of the students at the school. After the first day of workshops a3 provided resources for the teachers to continue to rehearse with their students. A fortnight later a3 returned for a second full day of workshops which culminated in an evening performance for friends and family.
St Mary of the Angels
a3 ran a full day of singing workshops at St Mary's of the Angels Secondary College in Nathalia in Term 1, 2011. Each year level from 7 – 11 had a 50 minute workshop with a3 and then joined together at the end of the day for a ‘big sing’. The school was eager to have the day play a dual function; to expose all of the students at the school to the joys of singing and also act as a Professional Development opportunity for one of their new music teachers to lay the groundwork for a really successful and sustainable music program at the school.
Cranbourne West Primary School
To celebrate the wonderful work and commitment of her school choir, the music teacher at Cranbourne West Primary School had a3 come and run a two hour song and dance workshop at the end of 2010.
Melbourne Day 175
In August 2010, a3 was delighted to be involved in Melbourne Day celebrations. We were engaged by the City of Melbourne to present Performing Arts workshops in nine schools around the city. Christ Church Grammar School, South Yarra Primary School, St Michael’s Primary School, Holy Rosary School and the Melbourne City School schools participated in the official Flag Raising Ceremony hosted by the Lord Mayor, while students from Melbourne Girls Grammar School, North Melbourne Primary School, Carlton Gardens Primary School and Kensington Primary School were a part of celebrations at City Square. The performances were the culmination of six weeks of workshops at the individual schools and were a highlight of the celebrations. We were thrilled with the performance outcome that the children achieved.
“Thank you for such a great experience! The kids had a ball! We managed to link it to our unit on community – celebrating all things multicultural and what it is to be a Melbournian!” Elise Andrew – Kensington Primary School, Kensington
“Thank you so much for making our 175th birthday so special! I loved the song – particularly about our pride in Melbourne – that’s how I feel every day. Hope you all do too!”
Robert Doyle – Lord Mayor of Melbourne

GenerationOne Hands Across Australia School Competition
In 2010 a3 was proud to have partnered with GenerationOne to deliver the Hands Across Australia School Competition. Schools across Australia were challenged to film their own version, including an original rap, of the GenerationOne theme song Hands Across Australia as part of the nationwide campaign to end Indigenous disparity in one generation – this generation.
We are delighted to once again invite all Australian Schools to get involved in the Hands Across Australia School Competition in 2011.
Ashwood College
In Term 3, 2008 a3 ran a four week program as part of the Year 10 Physical Education curriculum at Ashwood College. Each class had a one hour fitness-based dance session each week. At the end of the month the students were assessed on their performance of a routine set to Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’. In the first week many of the students were shy and felt awkward trying the moves; this apprehension soon vanished as they became more familiar with the routines and enjoyed being creative with the different dance styles. Many of the teachers commented that they had never seen their students, especially the boys, so engaged in dance before. Bryan Walsh, Head of Health and PE said that “it was truly a memorable experience for all students. [They] had a great time with all the routines and moves.” The program was so successful that the school immediately asked us back for Term 4 to run the same program with the Year 9 students!
Bendigo & Shepparton Holiday Programs
In 2009, a3 held regional school holiday programs in Bendigo and Shepparton, after successful programs in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney for twelve years. The program encompassed all aspects of the Performing Arts; pop singing, high energy dance, drama characterisation and script writing. The emphasis for the two days was on the kids gaining performing arts experience and the confidence to utilise their skills and talent.
