Melbourne Day 175

On Monday August 30, a3 was delighted to be involved in Melbourne Day celebrations. Having been engaged by the City of Melbourne to present Performing Arts workshops in nine schools around the city, we were thrilled with the performance outcome that the children achieved. Students from Christ Church Grammar School, South Yarra Primary School, St Michael’s Primary School, Holy Rosary School and the Melbourne City School participated in the official Flag Raising Ceremony hosted by the Lord Mayor, while students from Melbourne Girls Grammar School, North Melbourne Primary School, Carlton Gardens Primary School and Kensington Primary School were a part of celebrations at City Square. The performances were the culmination of six weeks of workshops at the individual schools and were a highlight of the celebrations.

“Thank you for such a great experience! The kids had a ball! We managed to link it to our unit on community – celebrating all things multicultural and what it is to be a Melbournian!” Elise Andrew – Kensington Primary School, Kensington

“Thank you so much for making our 175th birthday so special! I loved the song – particularly about our pride in Melbourne – that’s how I feel every day. Hope you all do too!”
Robert Doyle – Lord Mayor of Melbourne

Melbourne Day Song Listen

GenerationOne Hands Across Australia School Competition

a3 is proud to have partnered with GenerationOne to deliver the Hands Across Australia School Competition.

Schools across Australia have been challenged to film their own version, including an original rap, of the GenerationOne theme song Hands Across Australia as part of the nationwide campaign to end Indigenous disparity in one generation – this generation.

GenerationOne is the movement for every Australian wanting to end Indigenous disadvantage.  We want as many of Australia’s 10,000 schools as possible to engage their students in this movement by learning, practicing and performing Hands Across Australia. Entries are now open, and must be submitted by 10 September to be in the running to win the Hands Across Australia $25,000 Education Award.   For more information, visit the Hands Across Australia School Competition site.
